Regeneration in Woolwich

I (Esther) spent a fantastic afternoon in Woolwich yesterday with writer Sarah Butler. Sarah and I have worked together before and are planning a public art regeneration project for Woolwich. So, yesterday we went to meet the lovely people at The Greenwich Heritage Centre (http://www.greenwichheritage.org/) and Firepower Royal Artillery Museum (http://www.firepower.org.uk/). It was very exciting to be shown a tiny glimpse of their archive collections - we were shown things as diverse as Spike Milligan and Frankie Howerd's signatures when they joined the Artillery there, amazing old posters with stunning typography, and even cabinets of vast butterfly collections!

Sarah and I are hoping to use the collections as inspiration for a writing and visual arts education project there next year. In the meantime its inspired me to hook out my copy of Interpreting Objects and Collections, to refresh my head on the debate on how we relate to material culture and why we're so obsessed with collecting :)

we|wow

here at interim we are HUGE fans of we|wow, and have had a few of our DVD designs/products created by them. we are delighted to see they are using one of our booklet designs (from the Write Now and Then project we did in 2007/08) to promote their new eco-friendly WowWallet :)

One of Esther's current book works has been selected to be part of the nationally touring Micro-Pages exhibition, curated by artist Abigail Thomas. This is very exciting as Esther's book will be turned into a book on micro-film, lending a whole different reading to the work.

Animation in Progress

The animation group hard at work this morning. Story boarding, sketching and making models.

Needing lots of coffee!!!

For some reason neither of us are sleeping well at the mo, so are both very blurry-eyed this morning! I even managed to forget I'd put the coffee machine on, so we had coffee everywhere - well done Est! But luckily for us we have a very mature group of young people on our animation workshop today. We'll upload the finished films tomorrow for you all to see...
